Dear friends,
please read the answer from Camiel concerning the entry-fee. When you read,
that this fee includes the fee, the social events and the non-commercial
catering (breakfast, lunch and dinner) for 7 days for 2 persons, you
should accept it, case Camiel can confirm the question in the context
of accomodations without catering.
Hallo Camiel,
I confirm, that you informed us in Paris bout this, what you wrote
now, but – remember, it was not without disaccord. I hope, that there
are enough accomodations without breakfast, lunch and dinner, so that
the non-camping competitors have the chance, to participate the
catering.
Regards,
Dieter

Hallo Dieter,
After our last contact about the entry fee for the World Championship 2003
I have spoken with the treasurer and the secretary of the organizing
comittee about the cost-calculation for the Vaurien. This because of
the discussion about the entry fee for camping- and non-camping
competitors.
The result of our meeting is that we can´t change the entry fee for the
non-camping competitors. This because the camping on the Marina is free
for all competitors and coaches and isn´t calculated in the entry fee.
The entry fee will still be, camping or non-camping competitors, ?290,-
a boat.
The participants have to remember that the entry fee is calculated for
2 persons. The amount of the entry fee is based on the costs for the regatta’s,
the marina facilities and the social events. It further includes the
non-commercial catering (breakfast, lunch and dinner) for 7 days. On
race days the sailors even will receive lunchpackets on the water.
Further I would like to inform you about the Worldchampionship Vaurien
in according with the Splash and Flash. As you know there is one organizing
comittee for the combined World Championschip Vaurien and Splash and
Eurocup Flash.
The choice we have made in the organizing comittee is that it has to
be a great event for the more than 600 (!) sailors. With the
possibilities of a lot of social contacts between the participants.
Both during the races and the social events. And that we use the event
to promote the non-olympic sailing and the Vaurien. Therefore we will
concentrate the event as much as possible at one place. This is the
concept as presented during the winter-meeting 2002 in Paris.
We won the Marina Stavoren as the ideal location for the World Championship.
This marina offers great opportunities in a nice area. (see also the
sitemap and the website); there is enough place for all the boats, the
trailers, cars, facilities for the social events and the camping.
The marina is just a few years old, they see in the World Championship
a good promotion for the marina. Therefore the camping on the marina
is free and also the use of the showers and toilets.
The use of this marina offers the great possibility to use a terrific
tent (20 x 50 meters) for the social events and catering. We mentioned
the opening- and closing ceremony with a great party and live music!
Dieter, with this letter I hope that I have given you enough explanation.
In our situation we try to give the World Championship a new shape as
mentioned by a lot of Vaurien sailors from different countries. Aim of
this event is also to win more popularity for the Vaurien-class and
bring the sailors closer together. I hope I can count on your
coorporation to win more sailors and friends for this event.
Met vriendelijke groeten,
Camiel P. Brands
P.S. In the next days I will send an official notice about this issue
to all the Vaurien Associations.
